American Legion Post 153 Officers


Commander:  Dan Roberson   

Duties: It shall be the duty of the Post commander to preside at all meetings of the Post and to have general supervision over the business and affairs of the Post, and such officer shall be the chief executive officer of the Post. The Commander shall approve all orders directing the disbursement of funds and shall make an annual report covering the business of the Post for the year, and recommendations for the ensuing year, which shall be read at the annual meeting and a copy thereof immediately forwarded to the Department adjutant. The Commander shall perform such other duties as directed by the Post.

1st Vice Commander:  Tom Cooper   

Duties: The vice-commander shall assume and discharge the duties of the office of commander in the absence or disability of, or when called upon by the Post commander.

2nd Vice Commander:  Andrew Darling   

Duties: The 2nd Vice-Commander shall assume and discharge the duties of the office of Vice-Commander in the absence or disability of the Vice-Commander, or when called upon by the Post commander.

Adjutant:  John Smith   

Duties: The adjutant shall have charge of and keep a full and correct record of all proceedings of all meetings, keep such records as the Department and National Organizations may require, render reports of membership annually or when called upon at a meeting, and under direction of the commander handle all correspondence of the Post.

Finance Officer:  Jim Smith   

Duties: The finance officer of the Post shall have charge of all finances and see that they are safely deposited in some local bank or banks and shall report once a month to the Executive Committee the condition of the finances of the Post, with such recommendations as may deem expedient or necessary for raising funds with which to carry on the activities of the Post. The Finance Officer shall sign all checks disbursing the monies of the Post, and shall furnish such surety bonds in such sum as shall be fixed by the Post Executive Committee.

Service Officer:  Mike Cooper   

Duties: The Service Officer performs fundamental, unselfish work, not only for the benefit of the members of this Post, but for those War veterans particularly in need of your service. Responsibility of looking out for the welfare of all concerned.

Historian:  Vacant   

Duties: The historian works on matters of historical interest. The Post Historian should keep in touch with the Department Historian and should be prompt in answering inquiries. An annual report should be made to the Department Historian just before the Department convention. Copies of whatever is printed concerning the Post should be deposited in the local and state libraries, as well as in the Post files.Also, copies should be deposited in Department archives. The Post Historian should make a point of knowing what Historians of neighboring Posts are doing. The Historian should attend Department conventions and keep in touch with other Post Historians. The Department Historian can advise Post Historians on Department and national Post history contests, historians' associations, and material available from the Department Historian that will assist in doing a better job.

Sgt. at Arms:  Dick Wilson   

Duties: The Sergeant-At-Arms is the sentinel or tiler (the outer guard of this post) and will especially guard against the loss of The American Legion’s greatest possessions - our deep and abiding spirit of comradeship. You will learn the identity and introduce to the Commander all visiting comrades and guests of the Post. Into your hands is given the charge of the stand of colors which you will properly display at all Post meetings and on ceremonial occasions.

Chaplain:  Jack Kume   

Duties: The Post chaplain shall be charged with the spiritual welfare of the Post comrades and will offer divine but nonsectarian service in the event of dedications, funerals, public functions, etc., adhere to such ceremonial rituals as are recommended by the national or Department headquarters from time to time.

Executive Committee Members

Duties: The Government and management of Post 153 are entrusted to a Committee to be known as the 'Post Executive Committee'. The Post Executive Committee shall meet at the call of the Commander as often as said Commander may deem necessary.

Special Committees
