American Legion Post 153 Officers

Commander: John Smith

Duties: It shall be the duty of the Post commander to preside at all meetings of the Post and to have general supervision over the business and affairs of the Post, and such officer shall be the chief executive officer of the Post. The Commander shall approve all orders directing the disbursement of funds and shall make an annual report covering the business of the Post for the year, and recommendations for the ensuing year, which shall be read at the annual meeting and a copy thereof immediately forwarded to the Department adjutant. The Commander shall perform such other duties as directed by the Post.

1st Vice Commander: Darrel Beck

Duties: The vice-commander shall assume and discharge the duties of the office of commander in the absence or disability of, or when called upon by the Post commander.

2nd Vice Commander: Joseph Marvil
Duties: The 2nd Vice-Commander shall assume and discharge the duties of the office of Vice-Commander in the absence or disability of the Vice-Commander, or when called upon by the Post commander.

Adjutant: Julie Miller

Duties: The adjutant shall have charge of and keep a full and correct record of all proceedings of all meetings, keep such records as the Department and National Organizations may require, render reports of membership annually or when called upon at a meeting, and under direction of the commander handle all correspondence of the Post.

Finance Officer: Terry Sammons
Duties: The finance officer of the Post shall have charge of all finances and see that they are safely deposited in some local bank or banks and shall report once a month to the Executive Committee the condition of the finances of the Post, with such recommendations as may deem expedient or necessary for raising funds with which to carry on the activities of the Post. The Finance Officer shall sign all checks disbursing the monies of the Post, and shall furnish such surety bonds in such sum as shall be fixed by the Post Executive Committee.

Service Officer: Jeff Winters

Duties: The Service Officer performs fundamental, unselfish work, not only for the benefit of the members of this Post, but for those War veterans particularly in need of your service. Responsibility of looking out for the welfare of all concerned.

Historian: Ernie Cooper
Duties: The historian works on matters of historical interest. The Post Historian should keep in touch with the Department Historian and should be prompt in answering inquiries. An annual report should be made to the Department Historian just before the Department convention. Copies of whatever is printed concerning the Post should be deposited in the local and state libraries, as well as in the Post files.Also, copies should be deposited in Department archives. The Post Historian should make a point of knowing what Historians of neighboring Posts are doing. The Historian should attend Department conventions and keep in touch with other Post Historians. The Department Historian can advise Post Historians on Department and national Post history contests, historians’ associations, and material available from the Department Historian that will assist in doing a better job.

Sgt. at Arms: Bill Hilton
Duties: The Sergeant-At-Arms is the sentinel or tiler (the outer guard of this post) and will especially guard against the loss of The American Legion’s greatest possessions – our deep and abiding spirit of comradeship. You will learn the identity and introduce to the Commander all visiting comrades and guests of the Post. Into your hands is given the charge of the stand of colors which you will properly display at all Post meetings and on ceremonial occasions.

Chaplain: Bob Williams
Duties: The Post chaplain shall be charged with the spiritual welfare of the Post comrades and will offer divine but nonsectarian service in the event of dedications, funerals, public functions, etc., adhere to such ceremonial rituals as are recommended by the national or Department headquarters from time to time.

Executive Committee Members
Duties: The Government and management of Post 153 are entrusted to a Committee to be known as the ‘Post Executive Committee’. The Post Executive Committee shall meet at the call of the Commander as often as said Commander may deem necessary.

American Legion Post 153 Riders Officers

Director: Dennis “Stubby “Baker
Duties: Will serve as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Association and preside over all meetings. Shall have general supervision over the affairs of the Association. Shall perform such other duties as directed by the membership.

 

Co-Director: Mike Cooper
Duties: Will assume the duties of the Director when absent. Will assist The Director in the performance of duties, when called upon to do so by the Director.

 

Secretary: Bob Humphrey
Duties: To keep a full and correct record of all proceedings at the meetings. Keep membership records as may be required by the general membership. To give detailed financial reports at each regular meeting.

Treasurer: Bob Humprey
Duties: To have charge of all finances of the Association. To have charge of Disbursing funds as directed by the general membership. To give a detailed financial report at each regular meeting. ( Copies will be furnished to the sponsoring post if requested)

Historian: Stacy Hertzog
Duties: Shall be charged with the individual records and incidents of the Chapter and Chapter members, and shall perform such other duties as may properly pertain to the office, or as may be determined by the Chapter, or Chapter Executive Committee.

 

Ride Organizer: Paul McBride
Duties: Plans rides with routes, dates and times.  These are done in a safe manner through safety briefings prior to ride.

 

Chaplain: James Bogner
Duties: The ALR chaplain shall be charged with the spiritual welfare of the ALR comrades and will offer divine but nonsectarian service in the event of dedications, funerals, public functions, etc., adhere to such ceremonial rituals as are recommended by the national or Department headquarters from time to time.

Ladies Auxiliary Unit 153 Officers

President: Diane McElroy
Duties: The unit president must be an able and qualified leader, for she represents the Auxiliary in her community, and its success or failure depends largely upon her. She should act in a supervisory capacity, be familiar with the duties of all officers and committee chairmen and encourage and inspire them in their work. It is the responsibility of the President to see that all offices are supplied with all available information and material from Department and National Headquarters for efficient promotion of their various activities.

The Unit President has many duties. She should preside at all meetings of the Unit and the Unit Executive Committee; require strict adherence to the Constitution, Bylaws and rule and regulations established by the National and Department Convention, National and Department Executive Committees and the Unit itself; appoint members of standing committees and create such other committees as are necessary; appoint all non-elected officers, and perform all duties which are assigned to her office.

1st Vice President: Linda Renken
Duties: The Vice President is given the responsibility, with the President, for complete development of the Unit program. The vice-President should be prepared to preside at meetings in the absence of the President.

Secretary: Dee Attebery
Duties: The duties of the Unit Secretary are administrative, and she occupies a pivotal position around which all the activities of the Unit revolve, she should be efficient and well-informed on all phases of the Unit, Department and National activities and requirements and be capable of giving authentic information on organization matters. The secretary makes a record of all business transacted at each meeting and of the executive board and presents her minutes for approval at the next meeting.

Treasurer: Barbara Bosaller
Duties: The Unit Treasurer should handle all Unit funds, collect dues from members and make remittances of Department and National dues and special funds to Department Headquarters monthly. A simplified accounting system has been designed for Unit use, and a set of these books can be obtained from National Headquarters at a small cost. An efficient Unit Treasurer is essential to the smooth functioning of the Unit.

Historian: Dee Attebery
Duties: The Unit Historian is charged with the responsibility of recording the activities and accomplishments of her Unit during her term of office. The writing of a Unit or Department history is a very important assignment. Through the years the recorded experiences of those women who served before us have guided the footsteps of those who followed.

Chaplin: Mary Olson
Duties: The duties of the Unit Chaplain are to pronounce the invocation and the benediction at Auxiliary meetings, as well as perform such other acts as would fall within the realm of her office as the spiritual leader of the Unit. She should conduct the memorial service when such is needed in her Unit. As the Auxiliary is composed of women of different creeds and faith, she must be a woman of tolerance and sympathy toward all.

SAL Squadron 153 Officers

Commander: Chris Hicks
Duties: This individual is entrusted with the important duty of teaching and protecting the cardinal principles of the Sons of The American Legion and the supervision of duties of all other officers of the squadron. He is guided by the squadron constitution and by the decision of the squadron as a body. Yet, responsibility for the squadron’s success rests largely upon his shoulders.

 

Adjutant: Daniel T. Roberson
Duties: This officer is the secretary of the squadron, maintaining contact with individual squadron members and higher levels of the organization, keeping squadron records, and publishing any necessary orders, announcements, and instructions.

 

Treasurer: 
Duties: This officer has the responsibility of receiving squadron moneys and paying all squadron bills when the Squadron Commander, and/or the Post Officials have given authorization for payment. The treas Officer should have financial reports ready for every Squadron meeting
